Happy April Baes!
On today's blog post, we are going to be announcing our April Bae of the Month. We got a bunch of emails and tags on @ownitbae's Instagram, and we wanted to thank all you lovely ladies who have entered.
Since we can only have one winner, this month we have picked *drum rolls...* Anum Mahmood (@annie_m786) as our BAE of the Month!
Anum, also known as Annie, is a Scottish Fashion Blogger, Momma, and Wife. She looked amazing while rocking our leopard print faux fur coat on a casual day out. Congratulations Annie! We absolutely love your effortless style.
In the picture above, Annie paired the faux fur coat with a black oversized sweater, grey sweatpants, casual trainers, and a beanie! You look super warm for UK's bipolar weather, and we LOVE it! Do you all like what you see? Shop Annie's Leopard Print Jacket below for only £65 by clicking on the image below!
In a recent interview with Annie, we asked her a few questions to get to know her and her style better and learn about how she started blogging. Read on below to see what she says!
Who would you say is your number one fashion inspiration?
My number one fashion inspiration currently is—well actually they have been for such a long time —The Olsen Twins. I absolutely LOVE their chic style. I love the structured oversized clothing they wear plus they are so effortlessly beautiful! I just think they are simply too cool and their outfits can be recreated easily and affordably.
What do you love about OWN IT BAE?
OWN IT BAE is just awesome! So affordable, so relevant and it has a massive variety of clothing. Most clothing trending now in high street shops can be bught online at much cheaper prices and I know you think it's cheaper, but the quality is still amazing. Own It Bae's quality is so good— you know the mustard roll neck jumper I wear a lot in my IG lives? It is from Own it Bae! That jumper has been through the wash many times and it's still in great condition! You just can't go wrong.
I also love the website I know this is so random but I love the fact that the website is so easy and looks good —you want tops click on the Tops hyperlink, it's all there right on the front page. Easy as that!
What are your top 3 places to shop?
High Street Shops: Topshop, Zara and H&M
Online: Asos, OWN IT BAE and Topshop
What made you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging because my friends made me do it. They all think I have a unique style and I'm not afraid to put bold colours together and make it work. My friends always seek advice on what to wear or what would suit their body shape and I love helping them! It makes not only them feel good about what they are wearing but also makes me feel good about helping them. That is what I'm passionate about most helping others to be confident. I want everyone to know that they are beautiful in their own skin, their own personalities and their own fashion sense.
There is nothing more rewarding than receiving a message saying, "Annie you are such an inspiration, you made me dress the way I wanted to outside my comfort zone, but because of you I did it and I feel the most confident." It is so fulfilling. Being an influencer really is rewarding!
What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
Oooh current fashion obsessions—I absolutely love oversized jumpers tucked in flowy midi skirts at the moment. You will see alot of those outfits coming up on my Instagram soon. They say it's the year of midi dresses and chunky boots (docs are my fave). I also love co-ords, I mean we all love a good co-ord set, don't we? Give me a pant suit and colour any day of the week! You can wear them casual with a pair of converse or look all elegant at night with a pair of stilettos and sleek hair.
There are a lot of people following you on your fashion blog. How do you gain this following and who is your niche?
I'm so blessed with my following I'm not going to lie— they are so sweet and loyal! I'm just an ordinary girl and I think that's what people are loving. I'm not a model I'm petite and pocket sized—5 ft 1 to be exact! I post with no make-up on sometimes and I've had no cosmetic surgery. I'm just real and I think it portrays well. Society pressures girls to look their 100 24/7 perfect faces, perfect figures and a perfect life... it's too much! We all have imperfections and it's about embracing them and loving yourself. I'm not better than anybody else in any way—I'm just a positive girl trying to make a positive impact in the fashion industry.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a fashion blog?
Good Question! Just DO IT!!! Only you can get in the way of your dream job—whether it takes a while for you or it happens straight away JUST DO IT. Start it with the mentality as a hobby, do it for yourself and see how you feel —it is so much fun by the way! Then the drive kicks in! The drive to get that following, to post more, and to get better stats every day. You get more and more passionate every day and that passion makes you better, makes you more confident and it shows through your pictures. Then BOOM you have a bomb blog and the rest is history.
What is your current job vs. what is your dream job?
Okay, so you won't believe this I work in an industry completely opposite to fashion—Finance! Financially it pays my way and gives me security but ideally my dream job is to be a fashion influencer. I hope this takes off and I can turn it in to a career. I have a daughter Sofia Amel, she's a little pumpkin I want to be her role model someone she really looks up to and thinks mummy made her dream happen and so can I. I'll never give up even if it takes me a long time I know I'll make it! I am driven and a go getter —watch this space :)
And that concludes our interview with Annie. Thank you Annie for your insight into fashion blogging, and a special thank you to all you Bae's for entering and tagging your OWN IT BAE products this month on Instagram! We will be selecting our May BAE soon, so be sure tag us.
Goodluck and Until Next time.
Love,
Mariya & Team OWN IT BAE
